The PY1 pyramid: an immersive universe coming to Old Montreal!
Montreal, March 29 2019 – Lately, you may have noticed a large pyramid-shaped structure setting up near the Clock Tower Pier in the Old Port of Montreal. This is PY1: the new touring venue from Lune Rouge Entertainment. Starting June 1, PY1 will offer fully-immersive, collective experiences to its visitors with the premiere of its first custom-produced show, Through the Echoes.
World Premiere show in PY1: Through the Echoes
In this poetic and digital odyssey by show director Gabriel Coutu Dumont and initiated by Guy Laliberté, the audience will be submerged into a universe of light, music and a ballet of technology and multimedia, to re-discover the power of human connection. Guided by the stars and the voice of author Alan Watts, spectators will be invited to explore the thread that links space and time.

PY1 in numbers
Imagined and created in Quebec, the PY1 pyramid was custom made par Scène-Éthique, a company based in Varennes.
- Over 750 people have collaborated in the making of PY1
- PY1 is assembled from over 10,000 parts
- PY1 is composed of 500,000 lbs of equipment, mostly steel and concrete
- The pyramid is over 80 feet high, the equivalent of 8 stories. Its dimensions respect the rules of sacred geometry and the mathematical principles used during the construction of the Egyptian pyramids.
About Gabriel Coutu Dumont
As head of Silent Partners Studio, Gabriel directs the creation of video content for renowned artists. He recently headed the content creation for tours such as Witness by Katy Perry, Beautiful Trauma by P!NK, reputation Stadium Tour by Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake’s performance at the Super Bowl 2018 halftime show.
About Alan Watts
Alan Watts was a British philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter of Eastern philosophies for Western audiences. He was born in Chislehurst, England in 1915, and as a young man was influenced by the teachings of Vedanta and the writings of Lafcadio Hearn, Sax Romer and Dr. DT Suzuki. By the mid 50’s Alan Watts had become a popular lecturer both at the Academy and at KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station in Berkeley, and by 1956 his series Way Beyond the West was a Bay Area sensation. The series began airing nationwide, and in addition to public radio Watts appeared on National Public Television in the series Eastern Wisdom and Modern Life. Over two decades he wrote 20 books and many articles on subjects central to Eastern and Western religion. By the mid sixties he was adopted as a spiritual figurehead by the 60’s counter culture, became internationally known, and towards the end of his life he divided his time between a ferryboat studio in Sausalito and his library and cabin on the slopes of Mount Tamalpais. www.alanwatts.org
